Who We Are

A playgroup with a difference

La Casa Dei Bambini is first and foremost a playgroup, however most La Casa Dei Bambini parents would agree that it is the Montessori Philosophy that makes it special. We encourage you to dip into books on Montessori to enrich your experience at our playgroup.

You don't need to be familiar with Montessori before joining. You'll pick it up as you go but we do run an introductory session each term where you can learn how to make the most out of each session and gain a better understanding of the Montessori Method. We also try to share useful links about Montessori in our newsletters and weekly updates, and we have a fantastic parent library for members.

Our history

La Casa Dei Bambini is a unique playgroup which was started by a group of parents connected to Beehive Montessori School in Cottesloe/Mosman Park. The original playgroup was on the school premises. When space got tight they moved to Fremantle and then to Claremont Primary School. In 2011 we moved to City Beach High School where remained until the end of 2014. We moved into new premises in the grounds of Cottesloe Primary School in March 2015.

A volunteer organisation

We are a parent run organisation. This is something we are very proud of. Everyone's contribution from the past and present has contributed to making our playgroup so unique.

Our committee is made up of parents and carers. This small group drive the overall management of our playgroup, and although we rely on the continued input of members to keep this group going, we do not have huge expecations or demands of parents.

Our sessions are run with everyone lending a helping hand to make the session work smoothly. We also have a shelf rotation each term which parents are involved in. This is far from onerous - the morning is fun and a great chance for a social get together… and the children have a great time.

You're not expected to be overly involved in the running of our playgroup but as you get familiar, you may feel comfortable in taking on a role or helping out here and there. We're all busy parents so we are keenly aware that jobs need to be achievable in limited time.
